another day done.
dear diary.
the post brought the new album by infantjoy, a collab between old ztt hero paul morley and some bloke from auteurs. i placed the disc in the machine, turned up the volume and got on with chores. didn't work. tis ambient to the extreme, citing erik satie all over the press release. so gonna have to wait until the mood is right for that one. subsequently, the days playlist verged on the bizarre. i had an urge for 'comfort' music, and following the mention of gay dad yesterday, got the urge rising. so i dug out the bands 2 albums and damn, did i find that their brand of glossy supergrassglamspacerock production and easy melodies enjoyable. fuck the haterzzzz. both albums a great when pumping out of your stereo and there is little to be concerned about. but, as always, too much sugary perfection can become weary .. am i ready for the beat yet (been ages since i had any such desire to listen to hip hop .. i am getting a little concerned, picked up nas's latest double cd and i have yet to even get through disc 1), tried a dreary album by dirty vegas, too damn clean and not enough dirt if you ask me. dropped some wonderful heavy dub and felt cleansed, 'ravi shankar' by dub syndicate, recorded over 15 years ago and bounces all over the place like some young whippersnapper fresh out of the studio, a fantastic track. but as the shift drags on, i ended up back in my most confortable zone of all, madness. my first true love. years can go by and i dont listen to the band, then something clicks and all of a sudden their happy/sad pop classics become the only thing that will sooth my aching ears, and tonight became one of those periods. sometimes old friends are the best company a person can have, and in my world madness albums are the oldest and most dearest of friends.
as for tomorrow - who knows .
