posting purely for any googlers as i suspect that this aint going to be of interest to any regular readers of ireallylovemusic, if there is such a strange creature.

a late night net-trawl revealed more on the forthcoming shriekback album.

especially the fact that old xtc chum andy partridge has helped out in several places, something i never expected to see. time heals all wounds, or whatever.

admittedly, i haven't heard any of shriekback recent 'releases' (i gave up after go! bang! - which was pretty dreadful if memory serves me right), other than i got a 3 track ep of the band going through some new tracks in 2002. the ep comprised of 'more heat than light', 'god's gardenias' and the typically weird ambient piece 'baby lions'. 3 excellent tracks which totally proved that certain bands just have something special when they decide to let the love flow. 'more heat than light' ended up on the album by the veils, featuring barry andrews son, but, having heard both, shriekback's paranoid funk suited the drama far more than the overly emotional epic indie rock stylings of the veils, though i could be biassed somewhat.

 

anyway, something about the notes on this forthcoming release, and the fact its getting a proper release, fills my heart with joy.

let the countdown begin.
