overloaded ..

ok. the music industry holiday season is deffo over. my poor postie . list of up and coming sounds that i need to spread the love on : - bronze age fox. hurray .. dont have to spin the shaped singles anymore .. i can listen to this comp of all their output. - the vacation - more garage rock-n-roll. should i like this as much as i do ? - the mutts - see words for the vacation .. applies here as well. - home video - citiizen ep - new stuff on warp that has songs and tunes. and sounds very grey. - the koreans - fine blast of electro-rock .. has grown on me .. - subtle - FKO - new stuff from anticon people coming out on Lex - gravenhurst - its a mood thing. good jobs its autumn .. - sixtoo/blockhead - new sounds to celebrate the guys visiting these shores for a tour .. and finally .. te motherfockin' Scaramanga Six return with a new album .. none of you will have heard of them. well now you have. remember the name. check the website and glare at their ugly mutts, cos trust me, you need to be made aware of this scary bunch. oh, and for those party grooves i have posted words on the new nextmen mixtape that is in the shops at the moment .. usual place. onwards ! mark e ireallylovemusic

had to be done ..

KLF reviewed onwards ! mark e ireallylovemusic

justified and ancient

sorry. avoiding my usual responsibilities. today its been JAMS/KLF all day. ( 'cept a little detour into Propaganda's recent compilation) simple as that. shag times. various cd singles. the white room. waiting for the rites of mu. loved every minute. no pop band has ever come close to matching the sheer audacity of their fun-n-games. this downtime could take some shifting .. mark e ireallylovetheklf

a new week for old sounds ..

so. saturday parenting responsibilties - i drop off my eldest to a football party on saurday and then go park the car in the towns main car park to go do the DIY thing. there is a stall. i venture past noticing the obvious inclusion of cds on the table. i cant resist checking. tis quickly obvious that this is mum's clearout of her student offspring. lots of 4ad discs, depeche mode, till tuesday and even robyn hitchcock (not including brenda iron sledge unfortunately), anyway, i ask how much - expecting the usual couple of quid etc . '20p love'. sod it. those depeche mode albums are now at last mine. so today has ben a day of doom and gloom. violater and black celebration. fantastic stuff. also picked up belly and throwing muses. but they've yet to impress. i just want to be a goth hrowback. and .. i purg the archive of my KLF/JAMMS collection to make sure its all together .. as initial searchings revealed that my orig cassette version of 1987 was missing, the subsequent 48 hours were rather stressful. so today i put aside the necessary time and dived in. tis all sorted, the tape is in perfect condition. and the reason for this excavation ? the surfacing of the KLF's final sonic statement. 'Waiting for Rights of Mu' became available via various sources last week - having now heard this article i can reveal its a fun listen. tis an ambient piece which uses elements which have been used elsewhere, the vocals samples and the various KLF bits-n-bobs set to a naration a la Apocolyse Now .. whether its a genuine article is not that obvious, as the KLF site denies its existence .. evenso. its ace. and .. Stateside/EMI - a new comp collecting the best of Lou Rawls/David Axelrod. for the track 'Dead End Street' alone i cannot recommend this album high enough. do i have to listen to new stuff today? mark e ireallyloveoldmusictoday

sometimes theres just too much ..

folks. lots of noisy silver things dropped through my letterbox recently. most of its the usual guitar noises and stuff. the departure, the others, cake etc etc .. will let you know what strikes a chord - 'the vacation' anyone ? not heard the album yet, but from the cover and the track titles ( white noise, liquid lunch etc) it's bloody obvious what they sound like. haven't we moved on from this yet ? oh well. sure its a fun album... time will tell. i may be seriously surprised. may be. i hope so. - luckily though there is still noises that appeal from the left of centre beats and rhymes - best thing has to be Subtle. new on quality warp imprint - Lex - this is an offshoot from clouddead. the track is lovingly titled 'F.K.O.' (Fuck Kelly Osbourne - for all you nosey monkeys - though what they have against her aint obvious. yet) and consists of more weird surreal pop noises. but a lot more listenable and rather lovely it has to be said. - next up is the new single from soundhog on cosair records. a beat laden rock-techno beast like its 93 all over again. very klf. very good. - the beatnut freebie mixtape on this months hip hop connection is well worthy of the cover price always wondered what they sounded like. cant believe i missed this lot. will have to dig in a little more to their oeuvre. onwards ! mark e ireallylovemusic

grrrrr.

not good. my website hosting dudes are causing problems. no access to upload stuff today. nor access to ireallylovemusic email .. i am very aware that its not personal but i feel like a limb has been painfully sliced off. oh well to numb the pain i have posted relevant words on the new Mr Scruff mix @ sonomu.net, and BBC Collective. tis a good'un of course, but a little more of the Solid Steel freakiness would have selaed this one a little tighter for me. other stuff : Akira the Don. ok i realise i harp on about this mainman a lot, but now i have the 1st ep (due out in October on something in construction) i know i am right about this one. cartoons/hiphop/morrissey never blended so well .. the 4 tracks range from intensely atmospheric John the Baptist to the chas-n-dave singalong to the downright motherfonking hard beats of 'One Bullet'. if this man dont shut that Mike Skinner man up once and for all then i will be bloody well upset. a bit. Other stuff that requires more spins .. the new Nextmen mixtape, spotted this on the racks and hoped that this was a brainfreeze kinda groove. well it is. more details as and when (ie soon !) the new miss kittin single which i aint feeling at all yet, and the very strange vibes of 'home video' (warp's new signing) onwards ! mark e ireallylovemusic

today's noises

various bits-n-bobs : - anti-pop consort mainman is now solo : beans : free download ! new ep is different. is this what used to be called Tech-Hop .. techno infused hiphop. interesting. - mum - dusk log ep .. some old some new .. 4 tracker that continues with the bands quest for the most minimal of sounding records. hardly registers on the eardrum .. but still bewitching stuff. - akira the don - all sorts of fun is now happening for this man. catch up before the rest of the world does, grab the downloads. really enjoying the forthcoming Hot Chip ep .. guess the boys are winning me over at last .. onwards ! mark e ireallylovemusic

stuff and nonsense ..

just found this hidden in the bins : Y Front = depeche mode meets nin. only reason i was interested was the record label connection with the Young Gods .. sometimes these little connections are fruitful .. other times its a waste of time and space. on this occasion its well worth the interest. same pile .. Prof Griff solo album, 'disturbin tha peace' .. not as compelling as Public Enemy of course, but evenso for an ex-sidekick of that great band this album has a lot more going for it then Andrew Ridgley ever did. i love the bins. one day i will find my Holy Grail .. Nasty Rox Inc - CA$H. on cd. if you can help. let me know. thankyou. mark e ireallylovemusic

news and views

tis tuesday and the beginning of the end of summer is deffo here, so decided to spread the news on the excellent new aspects single. the fact that they are local to my current place of residence has no bearing on my overly keen opinion of them whatsoever. honest. also, posted a review on the hard to pin down, but very cool Homelife album which has been put out on ninjatune. so go here : current grooves office soundtrack today is new sounds from soundhog, new mum ep, and press fave skinnyman, and the mighty stars. initial reaction : soundhog is a mental full on rave-rock anthem, mum ep is hardly noticeable, and i need to hear skinnyman a few times to get his wordplay strengths, and the mighty stars are fine for those indierock moments of innocence. i have news of 'Earth The Californian Love Dream' tour .. if they float your boat : friday 17th september – manchester late room (in the city, ‘break in the city’ launch party) thursday 23rd september – nottingham stealth (club nme) sunday 26th september – glasgow merchant city festival (acoustic set) wednesday 6th october – birmingham jug of ale tuesday 12th october - london water rats (club ac30) thursday 14th october – nottingham trent university go and join in and see if their sets last longer than their intensely brief singles. onwards ! mark e ireallylovemusic

mashup overload ..

sunny thursdays always bring it on in a fine style. weather forecast is good for weekend. if only i had a social life. so posted words on new mixtape by the well named 'dave j' as well receiveing a whole set of mixes by dj aristocat a USA based dj who has obviously heard 2 Many DJ's/Yoda etc .. am i still enjoying this kinda stuff now that the Cool World has moved on ? well yes actually i am. its fun instant music. i like the new spin on the old familiar and hearing new directions - all depends on the quality of the execution .. and this cat has indeed the necessary skills. the mixes sound fantastic. lots of rock tracks mashed with underground hiphop, that doesn't take itself too seriously. loving it .. mark e/ireallylovemusic

September !

been a few days since i dropped onto this blogging domain .. but things are moving now that the big name festivals are over. - king of woolworths new album out soon on lo recordings - tis called rediffusion. different to previous albums. still settling into it. much more downbeat, lacks the pop finesse of previous album. - roger - this is the shit (head heritage) - posted review of this fine-n-fun[k] album. need to think up some Q's for the band to help them spread the word. (and that word is Fonk) - x-ecutioners - revolutions - proving that rock-n-rap can be a lot better than usually given credit. along with words on new stuff like soberskin, mansuns final single etc oh, and my 1st born goes back to school tomorrow. hurray. onwards ! mark e ireallylovemusic
