the mood darkens..

hello people. lack of words in recent times is due to lack of the usual optimism that normally permeates my life. one day i may reveal more. needless to say the early part of the week was spent relistening to Nick Cave ..but this became too intense in an open office environment, so i decided i need to have sounds to distract my wandering thoughts. luckily, i decided to find out what all the fuss was about DFA. they have released a fascinating 3 cd set (2 cds + 1 mix) that gives a full rundown on their sonic adventures. and i'm smitten. all twisted beats, acid house freakouts, and a smattering of percussion overload. not clean, not pure, but sheer dirty dance beat propelled music. this rises my expectations for the forthcoming LCD Soundsytem album (due early 2005) to outrageous levels. as well as that, today i received word that helped lift the grey vibe somewhat : REJECT FALSE ICONS It Lives Again WWW.GORILLAZ.COM 8th December 2004 12pm GMT at last. can never have too much jamie hewlett product in your life i think. onwards mark e ireallylovemusic

ambient tuesday

hello world. tidied up the site, cleaned up the current pages as they were getting somewhat littered. then decided to drop the review for rather interesting newbie from ascoltare (dave hensons new electronica project). not the pop kids thats for sure. all in the usual place. oh, todays tip - lunz .. lovely ambient electronica from the ever fine gronland label with remixes by alias and minotaur shock, and more of the big fat warm ambient noises from jimmy behan, on the elusive label. too much too much. loving every minute. mark e ireallylovemusic

blow away those monday blues ..

sifting through the various emails/demo requests last week, i responded to a simple email last week, only to put the resultant cd in the player today, and was met with one of the most joyous, simply happyvibed up lo-fi songs by 'the boy least likely to' after months of hiphop and electro stylised records this record has been catapulted to the top of the pile. and could indeed take some shifting. oh, and for the darker moments, i like the new death in vegas album. the lack of vocals adds a consistency to the sounds that makes the album stronger and more coherent. but anyway .. back to the happy pop. posted details/words on all sorts of fine records out at the end of nov/early dec. usual place. ta. mark e ireallylovemusic

new stuff ..

been offline all week. so here's a list of new stuff that has provided me with some light relief from the daily choredom electropop revivial : - temposhark - pink records rule, especially when as messily and fun as this. no question about it. - 69 corp - not dodgy p0rn but more electro darkness, familiar with andrew weatheralls stuff i suspect. - death in vegas - satans circus - i ignored the negativity and tracked this down. perfect trainride soundtrack noises. a step away from the rock noise of previous releases .. a good thing. also, posted interviews @ ireallylovemusic with Huw from Earth the Californian Love Dream, and Wrath Records supremo, Steve - 'q+a' section. too much too much. mark e ireallylovemusic

soulsavers news !

after an age of silence one of my faves mixtapes/downtempo groups has resurfaced with news of all sorts of action : Live Action : We are doing a one-off live show with Josh Haden on vocals in Barcelona on 19th November to which i'm really looking forward to. Also on the bill that night are The Tindersticks & Low. It's the only live show we're doing for the "Tough Guys" record so it's going to be a special night. Album : The new album is coming together really well so far. It's gonna be much longer than the first one, at the moment it's in four very different sections that should hopefully all fit together at the end. We're working with a few different people this time that i'm really excited to be working with. The working title is "Untold Fables of The Magnificent Bastards". Hopefully it'll be done by the end of January for an April release. Mixtape : We finally have a release date for the new mix album "Staring at the radio staying up all night" It's going to to finally be out at the end of this month (29th November). It's 2 cd's (82 tracks) this time. About 10 or 11 of those tracks have been on the previous mixes, but that's still 70 new tracks in this mix. It originally started out as a "Best of" mix of the other sessions for a radio show, but quickly spiraled into this mix. excellent stuff ! mark e ireallylovemusic
